Invisible Army
We are Invisible Army a newly registered Community Interest Company. Through documentary photography and short stories, we make the challenges and joys carers cope with every day visible to ensure carers’ voices are heard. Awareness is the first step to waking people up to other people’s realities.
A carer is someone who provides support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. All the care they give is unpaid. Carers Allowance is currently £76.75 a week if you care for someone at least 35 hours. This is equivalent to £2.19 per hour. Living wage is £10.42.
Invisible Army works collaboratively with carers and their families, within their homes, witnessing their everyday lives. Tina Gue, a photographer and Carina Andrews a carer and writer document these intimate stories.
The stories are developed and designed, ensuring the carers and their families are proud of what they have created. The high-quality stories have been printed and some of them are here for you to see. Thank you HOURS for making this possible.
We want to continue to build a nationally significant photographic social documentary of the challenges faced by an estimated 10.58 million carers (unpaid) nationwide to create societal understanding and improve the lives of carers.
